Cosmetic & Specialty Dentistry
This is the work that goes beyond keeping teeth healthy: changing how your smile looks, straightening teeth without fixed braces, replacing old silver fillings, and the custom appliances that protect your teeth at night or on the field. Some of it is quick and some of it takes months, so the starting point is always a consultation where we look at what is realistic for your teeth and set out what each option involves and what it costs.
An overview of the ways a smile can be changed, and how to work out which of them suits your teeth.
Professionally supervised whitening, in the chair or with custom take-home trays.
Clear removable aligners that straighten teeth gradually, without fixed metal braces.
Removing old silver fillings and replacing them with tooth-coloured material, using isolation and high-volume suction throughout.
Thin layers of composite or porcelain bonded to the front of teeth to change their shape, size or shade.
Custom-made appliances for grinding and clenching, contact sport, and holding teeth in place after orthodontics.
A custom oral appliance worn during sleep that holds the lower jaw slightly forward to help keep the airway open. Used for snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnoea, after diagnosis by your doctor.
Fine powder and warm water instead of scraping, to lift plaque and surface staining. Usually more comfortable than traditional scaling.
Used for selected soft tissue procedures, often with less bleeding and a quicker recovery than a scalpel.
