Are you allowed to get a second opinion for dental treatment?
Yes. You are absolutely allowed to get a second opinion before having dental treatment. It is normal, common practice, and often encouraged, especially for major, expensive or complex treatment such as root canal therapy, wisdom teeth and implants, or if you are simply unsure about the diagnosis. Dickson Modern Dental is frequently asked for second opinions, and we help you understand your dental issues and explore alternative treatments that may be more cost-effective and less invasive.
You also do not need your current dentist's permission to seek another opinion. It would, however, be helpful and less costly to ask them to send your x-rays, photos, treatment records and any other relevant information to you or directly to us, so we have the full picture.

No permission is needed from your current dentist, but asking for your x-rays, photos and treatment notes saves you repeat imaging and cost.
